While hotel development across California slowed last year after a record-breaking 2021, Santa Clara County bucked the trend, leading the state with 1,155 new hotel rooms across seven hotels in 2022. The findings, from a recent year-end development survey by Atlas Hospitality, underscore the booming hotel pipeline in the South Bay in recent years spurred by the growth of tech and life science industries and land for new construction. Santa Clara County added new hotel rooms at a nearly identical pace to 2021, while new rooms statewide declined by 42%.
